She was high on meth when she killed her girlfriend’s ex. Now she’s going to prison.

A Gulfport woman who shot and killed her girlfriend’s former lover pleaded guilty Monday in Circuit Court to manslaughter and auto theft, the District Attorney’s Office says.

Circuit Court Judge Christopher Schmidt sentenced Sandra Marie Goff, 25, to 20 years in prison for the crimes and five years’ probation, according to a news release from District Attorney Joel Smith’s office. Goff was initially charged with first-degree murder and auto theft.

Goff shot 38-year-old Michael Lossettt in August 2018. He was dead from a single gunshot wound to the chest when Gulfport police arrived at a River Road residence after responding to a 911 call, the news release says.

Goff’s girlfriend, Cassity Teer, pleaded guilty in August to accessory after the fact to murder. Teer will be sentenced Jan. 21.

Goff said at her plea hearing that, when she arrived home the day of the murder, she found Lossett and Teer in the kitchen. She said that she told them both to leave, the news release says.

Instead, she said, Lossett came toward her and she shot him, then ran upstairs.

Teer had previously testified that she spent the day with Lossett. They went kayaking and had returned to the house before Goff arrived.

Teer called 911, but she could also be heard telling Goff to get rid of the gun, said Assistant District Attorney Mitch Owen, who prosecuted the case.

Testimony was expected to show that, at the time of the killing, Goff had been under the influence of methamphetamine and had not slept in over 24 hours,” the news release said.
