A 19-year-old accused of shooting into a car traveling on 17th Avenue last week has been taken into custody.

Corey Christopher Dubose turned himself in Monday, New Year’s Day, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Gulfport Police Sgt. Clayton Fulks confirmed.

Dubose was being held at the Harrison County jail Tuesday on a $100,000 bond.

The victim had told police he was driving near the 2200 block of 17th Avenue about 10:27 a.m. Dec. 23 when a shot was fired into his vehicle, according to a previous information from police.

The residential neighborhood, near 22nd Street, is a few blocks south of Pass Road.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Dubose and the victim know each other. Investigators identified Dubose as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.
