Police say they have arrested a man accused of shooting a woman at a home on F Avenue last week.

Antonio Karlos Edwards, 47, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault Tuesday night, Gulfport police said in a news release Wednesday.

The shooting occurred about 3:42 a.m. Friday inside a home in the 3000 block of F Avenue. The neighborhood, south of Pass Road, is between Courthouse Road and Hewes Avenue.

Police on Friday said the woman, 38, was shot in the hand. A 47-year-old man, later identified as Edwards, went to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, and police learned his shooting was connected to the woman’s shooting.

How Edwards was shot remains unclear. He is not giving any information to investigators on how he was wounded, Police Sgt. Clayton Fulks said.

Officers had responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of 31st Street. The home sits on the corner of 31st Street and F Avenue.

The victim had gone outside and was in the street to wait for police and paramedics to arrive, Fulks said.

Police arrested Edwards on a warrant with a $25,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.

Edwards was booked at the Harrison County jail and was released later Wednesday night.

Anyone with information about the shooting or what led to it is asked to call the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959.
