One dead after head-on crash between dump truck, pickup near Wiggins
A George County man is dead after a head-on collision outside of Wiggins early Monday morning, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said in a release.
The crash happened around 6 a.m. in the westbound lane of Mississippi 26 at Walton Road, west of Wiggins.
It involved a Peterbuilt tractor trailer dump truck and a Chevrolet pickup, MHP Public Affairs Officer Cal Robertson said in the release.
The highway was closed for about 6 hours while heavy equipment cleared the wreckage.
The identity of the person who died will not be released until the next kin is notified.
No other injuries were reported.
The accident is under investigation, Robertson said.
