There might not be a unicorn at the end of this rainbow, but getting splashed with bright hues at the Color Vibe 5K benefits cats and dogs anyone can adopt and take home.

The Color Vibe 5K will be in Gulfport on Sept. 10 at Gulf Islands Waterpark, 17200 16th St., and will benefit the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

The totally for-fun run starts at 9 a.m. It’s a run in name only; participants can jog, walk, skip dance — or, yes, run — the 3.1-mile path and get showered again and again with bright color along the way. The color easily washes off you and can stay on your clothes with a little treatment, if you desire.

Registration is open at thecolorvibe.com, which also lists ticket prices and combination package rates. An early rate of $29.99 for solo adult runners ends today. Children 12 and under may register online free with a paid adult ticket.

Gulf Islands Waterpark is offering discounted tickets for participants to the Waterpark after the Color Vibe event. The $18.99 ticket includes admissions and a meal ticket (good for a hamburger/hot dog combo meal) and is good for any height.
