Cinema by the Shore in Gulfport adds date night
Cinema by the Shore is expanding the popular family movie nights in Jones Park to include six date-night movies in downtown.
Date Night movies will be held in conjunction with popular events such as Cruisin’ The Coast and the Gulfport Boat and Yacht Show to bring a diverse demographic of locals and tourists to downtown. Area restaurants and bars also will participate by offering specials before or after the movies.
The location of the movie showings has not yet been determined, but it will be near downtown.
The additional screenings were funded with a grant from the Knight Donor Advised Fund, which is administered locally by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
“The Community Foundation is pleased to support Cinema by the Shore, which offers a unique opportunity for people to gather with others to enjoy a free movie and an evening in downtown Gulfport,” said Community Foundation President Rodger Wilder. “By encouraging locals to take advantage of our vibrant parks and public spaces, we hope that Cinema by the Shore will help promote a stronger sense of community and offer a glimpse of all that downtown has to offer.”
The Knight Foundation’s primary focus is to invest in projects that expand economic opportunity and create a culture of engagement in cities across the nation.
