DIAMONDHEAD -- Hancock County deputies have taken a woman into custody after an incident at the Peoples Bank branch in Diamondhead on Friday afternoon.

Chief Deputy Don Bass said the woman was wearing a disguise, including a rubber mask and a wig, when the incident occurred about 2:30 p.m.

Chief Investigator Glen Grannan said it appeared the woman used or tried to use stolen credit cards to withdraw cash from the bank's automatic teller machine.

Grannan said the sheriff's department received a call about someone wearing a disguise and trying to withdraw cash from an ATM at a different bank in Diamondhead.

He believes it is part of a scheme involving identity theft and reproducing or stealing credit cards.

Officials are on scene and the situation is developing.
