3 injured in Gulfport crash

GULFPORT -- Three people were taken to an area hospital on Friday after a crash near the intersection of U.S. 49 and Duckworth Road, Sgt. Damon McDaniel said on Twitter.

McDaniel said two vehicles were involved in the crash. Photos show a silver Cadillac sedan and a maroon Chevrolet sedan sustained damage in the incident.

McDaniel said the occupants in the vehicles were not seriously injured.

Southbound traffic was heavy immediately after the crash because officers blocked off the right lane because the vehicles ended up close to the road, McDaniel said.

The accident is still under investigation.
