1 injured after UPS van, truck collide in Gulfport

GULFPORT -- One person was injured Wednesday morning when a UPS vehicle struck a pickup truck on U.S. 49 near Community Road, officials said.

Sgt. Damon McDaniel said police responded to the crash around 9:31 a.m.

The driver of a GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on U.S. 49 and tried to turn east toward Community Road when he failed to yield and turned in front of UPS delivery van.

The driver of the van, who was heading northbound on U.S. 49, struck the truck on the passenger side, McDaniel said.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was taken by American Medical Response to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Gulfport Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene of the accident.
