Body of naked man recovered near Biloxi River after alleged attack, police say

The body of a naked man was recovered early Sunday from the Biloxi River after a shooting Saturday night, according to the Biloxi Police Department.

Biloxi police received multiple 911 calls around 8 p.m. Saturday about a naked man emerging from the river. One homeowner said they observed the man on their porch via a Ring doorbell camera.

According to Biloxi police, the homeowner contacted their next-door neighbor about the man. The neighbor walked next door and made contact with the naked man on the porch, telling the man the homeowner asked him to check on the residence and asked the man if he needed help. At that time the naked man allegedly charged the neighbor, hitting him. The neighbor fired multiple shots, striking the naked man, but he continued attacking the neighbor. During the altercation, the naked man is said to have disarmed the neighbor and walked away from the home, back into the water.

Emergency vehicles were unable to reach the area due to heavy flooding and officers reached the area by boat. Upon arrival, officers were able to make contact with the neighbor, who had facial lacerations and bruising. Officers were also able to review the video from the home’s security system, which recorded the entire incident.

A search of the area was conducted by boat for the individual. The body of the individual was located on shore in the general area in which the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
