Woman jailed in Harrison County dies in custody, authorities say

A Gulfport woman jailed in Harrison County died in custody Saturday, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said.

“It doesn’t look like any foul play was involved,” Switzer said Monday.

The emergency department at Singing River Gulfport reported the death to the coroner about 8:15 p.m. Friday after the woman was taken there by ambulance from the jail.

The woman had been jailed on a misdemeanor warrant out of Biloxi. She was 29. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Jail staff discovered the woman during a cell check around 7 p.m., authorities said.
