Coroner identifies Gulfport woman killed in officer-involved shooting
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shooting death of a Gulfport woman by a Harrison County sheriff’s deputy Thursday.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer confirmed that Fallas Williams, 42, was killed. The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. just off of Robinson Road on Five Oak Drive in Harrison County, according to MBI.
The shooting happened after Harrison County deputies responded to a domestic violance calll and found a vehicle involved in the incident. As the deputy approached a suspect’s vehicle, the suspect allegedly attempted to run over the deputy, resulting in the shooting.
The shooting victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No injuries were reported to the deputy involved.
The Sun Herald reached out to Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley for comment, but has not heard back.
MBI is continuing its investigation, the results of which will be turned over to the Attorney General’s Office to determine if any criminal wrongdoing occurred. No other information has been released.
