One person was seriously hurt after two cars crashed Tuesday evening in Gulfport, police said.
A Chevrolet Camaro and a truck were “racing” and “showboating” around 6:35 p.m. on U.S. 90 near Cowan Road, Gulfport Police Lt. Jason DuCré said.
The Camaro rear ended the truck and sent it spinning onto an embankment, according to police.
The driver of the truck was brought to Memorial Hospital because dense fog made it too dangerous to life-flight the person elsewhere by helicopter, DuCré said. The driver’s condition on Wednesday was not immediately clear.
No other cars were hit and no one else was injured, DuCré said.
Neither driver was facing charges in connection to the crash by Wednesday morning. DuCré said the crash was still under investigation.
The crash closed the westbound lanes of Highway 90 for several hours Tuesday night as authorities cleared the damaged cars. It was one of several collisions reported this week across the region during Cruisin’ The Coast, which lasts through Sunday.
