A Mississippi Coast man drowned Tuesday after a boat capsized near the Gulfport Harbor, authorities said.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said the boat was south of Moses Pier when it hit a rough wave and sent four people into the water around 12:15 p.m.

Switzer identified the victim as Dan Reynolds III, 64, of Gulfport.

Switzer said the boat was between 16 and 18 feet long and capsized about 100 yards off the beach. Authorities rushed Reynolds to Memorial Hospital, where he died, Switzer said.

The three others on the boat were not hurt, according to the coroner.
