A crash between a motorcycle and three cars on Wednesday killed one person and injured two others in Gulfport, authorities said.

Police were called at 5:58 p.m. to Highway 49 and Dedeaux Road and found the motorcyclist dead from blunt force trauma, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said.

Switzer identified the motorcyclist as Braden Harper, 40, of Ocean Springs.

Switzer said Harper was driving north on Highway 49 and collided with a crossing van. The force pushed the van into two other cars in a turn lane on Dedeaux Road, according to the coroner.

Authorities brought the van’s driver and passenger to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Switzer said.

Switzer said Harper bought the motorcycle on Wednesday.
