Coroner identifies MS Coast teenager who died after 18-wheeler hit him on Interstate 10

A Biloxi teenager died Saturday after an 18-wheeler hit him as he tried to push his stalled car off Interstate 10, authorities said.

The car broke down around 4:20 a.m. in the left lane near the exit for Kiln DeLisle Road, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said.

The coroner identified the victim as Aaron Bolden, 17.

Bolden was driving with a passenger and got out of the car to try to push it off the interstate while the passenger steered, Switzer said. He said it appeared that the 18-wheeler shifted over to avoid hitting the car but could not avoid Bolden in time.

Bolden died at the scene.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Landon Orozco said the driver of the 18-wheeler stopped after the crash and stayed at the scene. The interstate near Kiln DeLisle road is under construction, and signs ask semi-trucks and other large vehicles to use the left lane.

Switzer said the tragic crash was not the first in the area. He also said the area is poorly lit at night.
