5 injured, 1 hospitalized in fiery late-night crash on I-10 in Harrison County

Five people were injured Thursday night after three vehicles crashed and two caught fire on Interstate 10 near the Menge Avenue exit, Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Cal Robertson said.

The crash occurred around midnight in the westbound lanes.

One of the five injured people was airlifted to a hospital, Robertson said. The crash occurred near the Menge Avenue overpass, where construction crews have been working to prepare for a new Buc-ee’s.

The cause of the crash was still unclear Friday morning, Robertson said.

Authorities blocked all westbound lanes about 11:25 p.m. Thursday, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation. The department said the crash had been cleared by 1:11 a.m. Friday.
