Victims in fatal MS Coast RV crash on Interstate 10 were husband and wife from Slidell
A Slidell man died and his wife was airlifted from the scene of an Interstate 10 RV crash Saturday afternoon after their motor home crashed near mile marker 24, or the Menge Avenue exit.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Cal Robertson said the motor home left the roadway and went into the woodline.
Martin Bruno Jr., 78, of Slidell, died at the scene. A second victim, 77-year-old Eileen Bruno, was airlifted to a hospital in the New Orleans with life-threatening injuries, said Whitney Valles, Harrison County Deputy Coroner. She was in critical but stable condition.
The crash, which happened about 3:30 p.m., backed up traffic in the westbound lanes of I-10 four hours.
One lane was open to traffic until both lanes had to be closed to allow the medical helicopter to land.
Robertson said the incident is under investigation.
