The Raleigh Police Department says two people were killed and a third inured early Tuesday in a collision between a truck and passenger vehicle on Interstate 440 between New Bern Ave. and I-87.

One person died Wednesday in a crash involving multiple vehicles on Seaway Road near White Road, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer confirmed to the Sun Herald.

All lanes of the well-traveled road were shut down for hours as the Gulfport Police Department cleared the scene, GPD said on Twitter.

Switzer said the call came in just after 5 p.m. and police tweeted at 7:15 p.m. that all lanes of traffic were closed. Seaway Road reopened by 9:30 p.m.

The victim, Gulfport resident Francesca McKay, was driving home from work when a head-on collision occurred, Switzer said.

The 53-year-old woman worked at an office on Larkin Smith Road and was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, Switzer said.

McKay was taken to Singing River Hospital in Gulfport and was pronounced dead just after 7 p.m. Switzer said the cause of death is blunt force trauma.

It’s not clear how many vehicles total were involved in the crash.
