A Hollywood producer spent 6 years transforming a Biloxi home. It can be yours for $1.3M.
People said they were crazy when they bought a 1955 ranch house that hadn’t been restored since Hurricane Katrina.
Now the, transformed waterfront home Angela Guice-Tyrsen styled “with California design meets the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast” is for sale.
The listing price is $1.3 million for the 5,000 square foot, 4-bedroom, 4-bath home on one acre overlooking Biloxi Back Bay.
The home was listed about a week ago and “It has gotten a lot of attention,” said Judy Abide, the listing agent with The O’Keefe Real Estate Group.
It already has more than 4,000 views on Zillow real estate website, where viewers can take a virtual tour.
Abide said it’s one of the nicest houses she’s ever listed.
“The colors just energize you and the view is just exceptional,” she said.
Palm Springs design
Guice-Tyrsen and her husband, Mikael Tyrsen, live and work in California. They operate NuContext Creative, Inc., a full-service advertising and marketing agency with Hollywood clients.
The couple just had a baby, she said, and this mid-century modern house at 1372 Kensington Drive is a second home, close to where she grew up on the same street.
She and her husband spent six years transforming the home in Biloxi, and she said those who doubted the home was worth fixing now are believers.
“Even if it’s not their style, everyone who walks in says, ‘wow,’” she said.
The modern yellow door stands out against the white exterior and dark roof.
Inside, graphic concrete tile makes a big impact in the large entry and is carried throughout the house.
“The thing I like the most about the home is you have views of the water from basically every room,” Guice said.
The owners and guests wake up and see the water from the two main bedroom suites with sitting areas and luxurious baths.
“I designed the kitchen so when cooking you have a view,” she said.
Water views also fill the contemporary interior with its open floor plan, a bar, two fireplaces, walnut floors, custom lighting and designer doors.
The home is available furnished, if the buyer chooses.
Outdoor living on the Coast
As impressive as the house is the multi-level patio for entertaining and the yard that slopes to the water and is graced with old oak trees.
“It’s so serene,” Guice said, and is just waiting for a new owner to put in an infinity swimming pool.
The booming real estate market in South Mississippi makes this the time to sell, she said.
But Guice said her Biloxi roots run deep. She learned that in the 1950s, her relative and former Biloxi Mayor Danny Guice lived in the house they restored and are selling.
They will continue to visit her family in Biloxi, she said, and the Coast may draw them back. At and some point, she said, her family may be looking for another property in Biloxi to restore.
