A D’Iberville couple died in a two-car crash Monday morning on the roundabout on Lamey Bridge Road and Highway 15, Harrison County Corner Brian Switzer said.

Norman Selvog, 77, and his wife, Linda Selvog, 74, died of blunt force trauma to their bodies at the scene of the crash, Switzer said.

Selvog’s wife wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

The crash happened, Switzer said, after Norman Selvog failed to slow down go around the roundabout and crashed into another vehicle, sending Selvog’s vehicle into a dirt median.

A motorist in the other car struck by Selvog’s vehicle was taken by ambulance to Merit Health in Biloxi for treatment. She had suffered moderate wounds, Switzer said.

A roundabout is circular intersection , where drivers mostly travel in a counterclockwise fashion until making their turn. There are generally no traffic signals at a roundabout.

Monday’s crash happened less than two miles from the deceased couple’s home.

Switzer said he suspects Norman Selvog may have had some type of medical issue while he was driving, prompting him to fail to stop for the roundabout, resulting in the crash.

Autopsies are pending.

D’Iberville police are handling the investigation.
