Gulfport woman hit, killed by SUV in ‘tragic’ accident on U.S. 49, coroner confirms
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said a “tragic” car wreck left a Gulfport woman dead on Sunday night.
Lynnell Young-Landry, 51, was killed while she was trying to attempt to cross U.S. 49 at Irby Road. Irby Road is just south of O’Neal Road.
Young-Landry was struck by an SUV traveling northbound on the highway, Switzer said.
Young-Landry was pronounced dead at the scene at about 9:30 p.m.
No other injuries were reported.
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story said Young-Landry was driving a vehicle. She was walking on foot when she was hit. The story has been updated to reflect that information.
