Victim in fatal single-vehicle crash identified by Harrison County coroner

A Saucier man died in a single-vehicle crash Friday on Saucier Lizana Road, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said.

He identified the man as Samuel Hilton, 76, of Saucier.

The crash happened about 2 p.m. Friday after the driver apparently lost control of his pickup truck, ran off the road and crashed into a tree, Switzer said.

Switzer pronounced the man dead at the scene and listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

The crash happened about a mile away from the man’s home.

The crash site on Saucier Lizana Road is about a mile north of Herman Ladner Road.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
