Abby Bosarge wanted to invite the Coast to say goodbye. Her funeral services are set.

Pass Chrisitian teenager Abby Bosarge wanted everyone who loved or supported her through a terminal illness to have a chance to tell her goodbye.

Bosarge died Thursday of acute myeloid leukemia. Her mother, Jerusha Bosarge, posted funeral arrangements Friday to the Facebook group page “Abby’s Army,” where thousands followed the exceptional Pass Christian High School graduate after her diagnosis in June 2020.

“The visitation and funeral will be opened to all who have loved, cared for, and supported her during her life,” Jerusha Broussard wrote. “It was so important to her that every single person who needs closure on this gets it. She lost one of her dearest friends before she was diagnosed and feels like she never had the closure she needed.

“She was adamant that her passing never leaves anyone who cares about her without a chance to say goodbye.”

Even when she was weak and in pain, Abby was thinking of others. When Pass High brought graduation to her in the spring on a beach in Texas, where she had undergone treatment, she took the hand of each of her friends and told them her hopes for their futures.

Services for Abby, who was 18 years old, will be held Tuesday, her mother said. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Outdoor Chapel in Gulfport, with a service to follow at 4 p.m.

A procession will travel U.S. 90 to Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian, with a graveside committal ceremony at sunset.

Abby’s family, friends and supporters will then gather on the beach at Henderson Avenue for a lantern release over the water.
