MS Gov. Tate Reeves appoints 2 new people to Coast development commission

Gov. Tate Reeves has appointed two new members to the Harrison County Development Commission, the organization said Tuesday in a news release.

John Carter, a licensed Realtor at Century 21 J. Carter & Company, and James Moody, vice president and employee benefits consultant at BXS Insurance, will join the board for two years starting this month.

The Commission promotes economic development in the county and cities of Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi and D’Iberville by creating new jobs and bringing in new industries to Harrison County as well as working to retain and expand existing businesses.

“I appreciate John and James stepping up to help promote and develop Harrison County,” Reeves said in the release. “I have no doubt that they will be an asset to the Board of Commissioners and effective in their new roles.”

John Carter was born and raised on the Mississippi Coast and previously served as president of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Board of Directors. He also founded Carter’s Champions Pink Dress Run, which donates its annual proceeds to the Memorial Hospital Foundation.

James Moody also is a Coast native and an alumni of The University of Southern Mississippi and Louisiana State University. He previously worked as a legislative aide to Sen. Thad Cochran in Washington D.C. Moody also is currently an executive board member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast and United Way of South Mississippi.

In the press release, HCDC also commended former governor appointee, Sharon Bentz Mustered, for 17 years of service.
