No explosives found after bus pulled off Coast interstate for bomb threat, MHP says
A report of a possible bomb on a double-decker bus turned out to be nothing after the Biloxi Police Bomb Squad searched the bus Thursday.
An investigation began, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Capt. Johnny Poulos, after someone on the bus misunderstood a conversation about a bomb between other passengers.
There was no bomb on the bus.
But when the call came at 10:57 a.m., authorities caught up with the bus on Interstate 10 and directed the bus get off of the interstate at the Lorraine-Cowan Road exit.
The bus was diverted to the parking lot of First Baptist Church of Gulfport on Mississippi 605, where the passengers were searched and questioned and the bomb squad checked the bus for any explosive device.
Agents with the FBI and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation interviewed the passenger who had called in the possible threat, Poulos said, as well as others to determine there was no threat.
The passengers got back on the bus and it proceeded to its destination in Atlanta.
