Teen enters guilty plea as accessory in death of Biloxi officer Robert McKeithen
Andre Anderson Sullivan, 18, of Gulfport, waived a grand jury investigation and pleaded guilty Monday in Circuit Court to accessory after the fact to capital murder in the May death of Biloxi police officer Robert McKeithen.
He also pleaded guilty to taking part in a December 2018 armed robbery on Grand Lido Lane in Gulfport, a news release from the District Attorney’s Office said.
Judge Christopher L. Schmidt will sentence Sullivan after a capital murder charge is resolved against Darian Tawan Atkinson, 19, accused of gunning down McKeithen outside the Biloxi Police Department.
Accessory after the fact to capital murder charges also are pending against Wanya Atkinson and Davian Atkinson, who are Darian Atkinson’s brothers, and Dalentez Brice and Joshua Kovach.
During his plea hearing, Sullivan said he recognized Darian Atkinson as the suspect in the shooting when photos were released shortly after McKeithen’s death.
Sullivan also admitted that he helped Atkinson with a change of clothes so that Atkinson could conceal his identify. Sullivan said he switched shoes with Atkinson. Their actions were captured on home surveillance video outside the Biloxi home of Atkinson’s mother.
Sullivan has been held in jail without bond since his arrest in May.
A grand jury has indicted Darian Atkinson on a capital murder charge. His trial date is expected to be set later this month.
