A car drove in to a Gulfport liquor store Saturday night, injuring one.
Gulfport Fire Chief Michael Beyerstadt said the event at Bin 605 on Cowan Road was an accident. The crew on the scene were told a person began to leave her vehicle when she realized she had not placed the vehicle in park. She tried to re-enter the vehicle, but accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, Beyerstadt said. The vehicle drove all the way to the back of the store.
The driver suffered injuries. Beyerstadt said her leg was pinned inside the car and she had to be extricated from the vehicle. He said no one else was in the vehicle at the time, and none of the customers inside the store were injured.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
