Vicious dogs could be loose in Gulfport, police warn
Two vicious dogs might be on the loose around Pratt Avenue and 20th Street, the police department warns in a news release.
The department says two dogs have been seized in the general area, but they may or may not be the same two dogs who bit individuals Thursday night in the area.
“We have three reports where they’ve bitten citizens in that area,” police Sgt. Clayton Fulks said. “As far as the two we’ve seized, we’ve seized two dogs in that area. They matched the general description and they were loose.”
“Hopefully, we’ve got the right two but we just want to be safe and let everybody know.”
One of the seized dogs appeared to be a pit bull, and was wearing a blue and white collar and dark leash. The second seized dog was brown and appeared to be a smaller, pit-bull mix.
Fulks said officers have been knocking on doors to warn residents about the dogs and animal control officers have been out all day Friday looking for them.
The department warns that residents should call the police department at 228-868-5959 or 911 if they see loose dogs in the area and should under no circumstances approach them.
