Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said skeletal remains found in a camping area near the Tchoutacabouffa River have been sent to Jackson. Hargrove said the remains were found Saturday morning.
“Some boaters were tying up a boat when they saw a hammock, and they went to check it out and they found the remains,” Hargrove said. “Biloxi police are leading the investigation.
Hargrove said the decomposed body was found near Hurricane Hole, a popular spot to shelter boats during hurricanes.
Biloxi police Maj. Chris DeBack said the cause of death is under investigation.
“We do not have anty reason to belive that foul play was involved but it is an open investigation,” DeBack said.
