A rumor making its way across social media that claims a middle school student was shot during a fight after the Biloxi - Harrison Central football game is false, police Maj. Christopher De Back said.
Ahead of the Friday night matchup at the Biloxi High Stadium, there were rumors that students were going to be fighting at the game, De Back said.
There was extra police presence at the game, and De Back said fights did break out, but they were dispersed before police could get to the area where the fight was happening.
No arrests were made at the game, he said.

After the commotion, rumors began that a seventh-grader was shot during one of the fights.
“Social media blew up,” De Back said. “We did not get any reports of shots fired.”
Maurice Singleton, a freelance correspondent covering the game for the Sun Herald, reported that at least one person was hit with pepper spray in one altercation.
