UPDATE: Family offers $10,000 reward for information on missing man
The family of Brody "B.J." Brown of Stone County is offering a $10,000 reward for any information on his whereabouts, or the arrest of any individual involved in his disappearance, his cousin and state Sen. Sean Tindell said Monday evening.
Sheriff Ricky Adam said there is no reason to suspect foul play, but investigators are no closer to figuring out what happened to Brown. His hat, Adam said, was found on the property in Tranquilty Lake, which authorities searched Monday.
"I think everybody's just wanting some kind of answers, no matter what it takes to get them," Adam said.
Brown was last seen Saturday night at Muddy Joe's off-road and RV park north of Kiln. Family, friends and law enforcement agencies have been searching for the 34-year-old since Sunday.
Chief Deputy Don Bass said before dark Monday that law enforcement authorities were about ready to end the search for the day, but will probably search again Tuesday with dogs.
Adam said officers will resume the search Tuesday morning with dogs, while members of Gulf Coast Search and Rescue will be on horseback.
Bass said camera footage from the park was of no help in determining what has happened to Brown, a husband and father of two sons. Brown was at the park with his family. He and his wife were attending a concert when he excused himself about 9:30 p.m. Saturday to go to the bathroom. His family has not seen him since.
ATV riders and others have helped with the search, which has been ongoing since Brown was reported missing Sunday. Gulf Coast Search and Rescue also had teams assisting.
Tindell said Brown has been working offshore since he graduated from high school.
"It's not like him at all to go somewhere without staying in touch," Tindell said.
