The Mississippi Coast wanted answers this year about saltwater fishing reports. Residents were deeply curious about Olympian and gymnast Simone Biles.
They searched again and again for the song “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. And the biggest match of the year was apparently the wildly popular fight of former professional boxer Mike Tyson vs. influencer Jake Paul.
The results come from a Google analysis of the search engine’s top queries in 2024. Google has listed top searches for cities across the country into four categories: Olympians, Near Me, Songs and Matches.
Searches soared across the Coast during the Olympic Games last summer for Biles, golfer Scottie Scheffler and basketball player Anthony Edwards, among other athletes. Searches about voting rose during the 2024 election, and residents also wanted to know where to find retail jobs.
