Photos and drone video show fire burn through acres of woods in Gulf Park Estates
A fire that broke out in a wooded area of Gulf Park Estates near Ocean Springs on Saturday afternoon burned “hundreds of acres” and was contained by 10 p.m., said Jackson County Emergency Manager Earl Etheridge.
The fire, which started around 2:15 p.m., burned 300 to 400 acres of wooded area from the area near Fountainbleu Road up to the area of the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge in the afternoon. Etheridge said more acres burned through the evening.
No homes have been reported damaged in the blaze.
Etheridge said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Photos and reader-submitted drone video were taken of the of the blaze near North 11th Street in Gulf Park Estates.
