Expect delays for hours on I-10 near MS-LA line after tractor trailer overturns on ramp
Drivers are being urged to take an alternate route after a tractor trailer overturned on an Interstate 10 entrance ramp Thursday morning near the Mississippi-Louisiana state line.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation said the southbound entrance ramp on Mississippi 607 to I-10 westbound in Hancock County is blocked.
Traffic is expected to be impacted for about 4 hours, MDOT said.
The area near where the wreck occurred, near Exit 2 off the interstate, was already experiencing heavy traffic congestion Thursday, with wet roads adding to the commute time.
Drivers traveling westbound on I-10 before the Highway 607 exit should also be prepared to stop and deal with congestion for about an hour, MDOT said at about 11:15 a.m. Thursday.
The congestion began about 9 a.m.
That area has seen increased congestion following an accident in January in which part of the Pearl River Bridge was damaged due to fiery vehicle accident.
MDOT said repairs for the bridge are going out to bid next week. I-10 westbound near the state line has been experiencing congestion near daily since the wreck involving a truck hauling BMWs.
Traffic updates are available in real time by checking MDOT’s interactive map that shows updates on traffic issues.
