List of MS Coast business and government closures, cancellations due to Sally

The following businesses and local governments have announced closings, cancellations or postponements as Tropical Storm Sally is likely to approach the Gulf Coast as a hurricane.

Coast Transit Authority is closed Wednesday and will reopen Thursday based on road conditions.

Coastal Family Health Center locations are closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and will return to normal hours Thursday. Patients can reschedule appointments by calling 877-374-4991 or at coastalhealth.org.

Fresenius Kidney Care has activated its emergency response, including a 24-hour toll-free Patient Emergency Hotline at 1-800-626-1297. The hotline is available to all dialysis patients, regardless of their provider.

Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System suspended operations Wednesday. Appointments will be rescheduled. The Biloxi VA Medical Center Emergency Room will remain open for extreme and urgent cases; however, all veterans are encouraged not to travel unless necessary.

Gulfport Airport GBRAA Board Meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled until 2 p.m. Friday.

Harrison County Library System is closed Tuesday. Details: 228-452-4596 or harrison.lib.ms.us.

Hiller Park gate in Biloxi is closed until the storm passes. The city’s splashpads also are closed.

Ingalls Shipbuilding suspended all operations through Wednesday. Those working remotely should continue business as usual.

Memorial Hospital announced the all clear for hurricane alert status. The Gulfport and Wiggins hospitals have resumed normal operations. The following COVID-19 testing sites are open:

  • Memorial Long Beach Walk-In, 5120 Beatline Rd., Ste. B, Long Beach
  • Memorial Drinkwater Internal Medicine Walk-In Clinic, 300 Drinkwater Dr., Bay St. Louis
  • Memorial Physician Clinics – COVID-19 Screening Site, 1213 Broad Ave., Gulfport
  • Memorial Stone County Medical Center, 1440 E. Central Ave., Wiggins

Memorial Physician Clinics open are Acadian Plaza, Diamondhead, Cedar Lake and Stone County, including walk-in clinics located in Harrison and Hancock counties.

The Memorial Surgery Center at Cedar Lake is open; however, Memorial Surgery Center Ocean Springs will remain closed.

Mississippi Aquarium is closed through Wednesday.

Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce virtual State of the City with Mayor Shea Dobson that was scheduled for Wednesday now will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday on the chamber’s Facebook page.

University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs closed Wednesday. All course delivery, remote work, and previously scheduled in-person operations at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, the Marine Research Center in Gulfport, and at Stennis Space Center in Hancock County will resume as scheduled on Wednesday.

Garbage collection

Harrison County Utility Authority will resume all garbage, recycling and yard waste routes on Wednesday. Service will be pushed back one day for all service area for the remainder of the week, so Tuesday service will be on Wednesday, etc. If roads are impassible on the collection, HCUA will service on the regular schedule the following week.

Jackson County Landfill will be closed Tuesday and service will resume when weather permits, and will run one day behind. Residents are asked to remove garbage cans, recycling cans and rubbish from the roadsides.

Waste Pro will suspend all of collection services for Tuesday and will continue to monitor the weather to make a determination past Tuesday.

Waste Management. Areas with twice-a-week residential collection service (Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Wiggins and Poplarville) will be rescheduled for Friday, weather and road conditions permitting. Areas with once-a-week residential collection service (unincorporated Harrison, Jackson and Hancock counties, Biloxi, D’Iberville, Diamondhead, Leakesville, Long Beach, Moss Point and Pass Christian), will be rescheduled for a delayed start on Wednesday, weather and road conditions permitting.

Beginning Thursday, Waste Management will temporarily suspend recycling for residents in the unincorporated areas of Jackson County due to damages to their recycling facility in Florida. Garbage service will continue as scheduled.

Government

Keesler Air Force Base will be opening for standard business Thursday after sustaining only minimal damage. Base facilities will reopen at the following dates:

  • The Azalea and Magnolia dining facilities will resume normal operations for dinner Wednesday
  • All gates are now operating normally with the exception of the Visitor’s Center which will remain closed until Thursday. Visitors will not be allowed on the installation until it reopens.
  • Keesler Medical Center will resume normal operations Thursday
  • The Exchange, Commissary, Shoppette and all other AAFES facilities will resume normal operations Thursday
  • Airman & Family Readiness Center, Base Honor Guard, education services, fitness centers, bowling center, McBride Commons, Military Personnel Flight, Vandenberg Commons, FamCamp, Child Development Center and the Youth Center will resume normal operations Thursday
  • The Marina, Golf Course and Outdoor Rec will resume normal operations Friday

Biloxi VA Medical Center was closed Wednesday. Veterans can reschedule appointments by calling 228-523-5000. The Biloxi VA Medical Center Emergency Room will remain open for extreme and urgent cases, although veterans are encouraged not to travel during the storm unless necessary.

D’Iberville City Council moved its meeting to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Hancock County Justice Court dates will be moved from Tuesday to Sept. 22 for criminal cases. Payment hearings and civil cases will be moved from Thursday to Sept. 24.

Harrison County’s State of the County address scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled to 10 a.m. on Sept. 23.

Long Beach Board of Aldermen’s Tuesday meeting was moved to 5 p.m. Thursday.

Mississippi Advisory Commission on Marine Resources postponed its September meeting on Tuesday. A date will be announced at a later time.

Hancock Justice Court dates will be moved from Tuesday to Sept 22 for criminal cases. Payment hearings and civil cases will be moved from Thursday to Sept. 24.
