Mississippi reports 20 new COVID-19 deaths and 722 more cases
Mississippi reported 722 new COVID-19 cases and 20 new deaths Friday.
There were 75 new cases and one death, in Harrison County, in the lower six counties.
With those figures, the seven-day average of new cases in south Mississippi ticked above 60, to 61, for the first time since Sept. 9. The state-wide seven-day average was 514.
Harrison and Jackson Counties recorded the largest number of new cases, with 24 and 30, respectively.
Additionally, the state reported seven COVID-19 deaths that took place between Sept. 11 and Sept. 24 and were identified from death certificates. One of those deaths took place in Hancock County.

Thursday, Sept. 24
Mississippi’s state department of health reported 737 new cases of COVID-19 and 4 new deaths Thursday.
One of the new deaths from the coronavirus occurred in Jackson County.
There were 69 new cases reported in South Mississippi, with most new cases reported in Jackson County with another 26 cases, and in Harrison Count with another 24 cases.

Mississippi State Department of Health is offering free drive-thru testing at the following county health departments from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

Wednesday, Sept. 23
Mississippi’s state department of health reported 562 new cases off COVID-19 and 24 deaths.
Pearl River County had the only death in South Mississippi, which was confirmed through a review of death certificate reports from Aug. 31-Sept. 14.
The seven-day average for new COVID-19 cases in Mississippi stands at 477.
There were 50 new cases of the coronavirus reported Wednesday in South Mississippi, including 25 in Harrison County.

Tuesday, Sept. 22
The state reported 465 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday with 36 deaths, including nine identified from death certificates collected from Aug. 29-Sept. 5.
Mississippi now has a total of 94,021 coronavirus cases with 2,846 deaths.
Six of the total deaths reported Tuesday were in South Mississippi, with one in Harrison, two in Jackson, two in Pearl River and one in Stone County. None of the South Mississippi deaths were from previous death certificates.

Monday, Sept. 21
Zero new deaths were reported from the coronavirus in Mississippi on Monday, only the second time that has happened since March 24.
The last time there were 0 deaths was on Sept. 8.
The state health department reported 192 cases, which is the second time the state has seen fewer than 200 new cases since June 14.
The numbers tend to run lower on Mondays, yet the trend shows cases and deaths continue to trend downward in Mississippi.
On Aug. 21, Mississippi had 874 new cases compared to 192 on Sept 21.
From Aug. 1-21, deaths in the state increased by 566, while the increase from Sept. 1-21 was 317.
Hospitalizations also continue to improve. Through Sept. 20, there were people hospitalized with COVID-19, 505 in ICU and 77 on ventilators — the lowest numbers in many weeks.
Presumed recoveries through Sept. 20 are 85,327 statewide.
South Mississippi had 31 new cases reported Monday. The six coast counties have 9,681 cases and 234 deaths since March.

Sunday, Sept. 20
Mississippi reported 277 new cases and 1 new death Sunday, bringing the totals to 93,364 cases and 2,810 deaths.
South Mississippi had 34 new cases and 0 new deaths on Sunday. The totals now are 9,650 cases and 234 deaths in just over six months.
