There were 15 states that broke single-day records for new coronavirus cases this week, including Alabama, Florida, Texas and Georgia, Axios reports.
Cases are skyrocketing in Florida, and many across the Gulf Coast typically flock to beach towns like Destin and Orange Beach for summer holiday weekends.
Alabama’s Gulf Shores canceled two fireworks shows and closed 8 restaurants for cleaning after employees tested positive, AL.com reports. But people still packed onto the beaches in record-setting numbers.
