MS reports 3rd straight day of over 600 COVID-19 cases. Jackson County sees bump.

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported over 600 new COVID-19 cases in Mississippi for the third consecutive day on Wednesday with 653.

On the first day of July, the seven-day average stands at 639.43. On June 1, the average was 327.71.

The state also reported nine deaths on Wednesday — none in South Mississippi.

Mississippi set a new high in patients hospitalized with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases at 786 — 579 of which were confirmed cases.

The number of coronavirus patients on ventilators is 85 — the lowest mark over the last 20 days.

For the first time since June 5, Jackson County reported more novel coronavirus cases than Harrison County. Jackson County had 28 new cases and Harrison County had 25.

In total, there were 60 new cases reported in the state’s southernmost six counties with the seven-day average standing at 54.00 for the area. On June 1, the seven-day average in South Mississippi was 6.86.

The state now has 27,900 reported cases of COVID-19 with 1,082 deaths.
