Businesses and groups continue to find ways to help the community during the pandemic:
▪ Rotary Club of Moss Point has provided ultraviolet light virus treatment equipment for two childcare centers in Moss Point. The Moss Point Active Citizens joined Rotary to raise $5,000 to fund the project. Foster’s Air Conditioning and Heating of Gautier installed the APCO-X equipment at Mary’s Little Lambs Daycare and Preschool and Little People Learning Center.
The equipment is installed in the heating and air conditioning duct work and is proven effective against pathogens similar to the coronavirus. “
“We would not have reopened this week without the installation of this equipment,” Gwen Kennard owner of Little People. “We and parents have to know our children will be safe while parents are working. The addition of this equipment should really help.”
▪ Hancock Whitney Bank has pledged $100,000 to Feeding the Gulf Coast as part of the bank’s COVID-19 community relief efforts. The donation will provide more than 500,000 meals to 12,000 families in Hancock, Harrison, Jackson and Pearl River counties.
This follows the $2.5 million Hancock Whitney provided to help stock local food pantries, provide supplies to protect residents and first responders, and fund housing relief and legal services for individuals fighting illegal evictions in local communities.
