Mississippi releases 5-day total of new coronavirus cases after ‘legacy software’ issues

After days of not releasing new local and statewide cases of COVID-19 because of “legacy software” issues, Mississippi’s department of health released on Monday released five-day totals.

From June 17-21, the state saw 1,646 new coronavirus cases and 40 deaths.

Harrison County had by far the most new cases in South Mississippi with 71 reported for that five-day stretch, bringing its total to 464.

The good news is no new deaths were reported for the state’s southernmost six counties. Copiah and Neshoba counties both led the state with four deaths during that time frame.

Total cases by county are:

George — 53 (12 new for five days)

Hancock — 103 (3 new for five days)

Harrison — 464 (71 new for five days)

Jackson — 402 (17 new for five days)

Pearl River — 226 (2 new for five days)

Stone — 35 (7 new for five days)
