What will Disneyland look like when it reopens? Here’s what park visitors can expect
Disney fans have been aching to know what Disneyland will look like when it reopens, and the theme park giant is finally giving some insight.
Disneyland said in a statement Wednesday that there is still no official reopening date for the Anaheim, California, parks, but there will be changes once that day comes.
“Upon reopening, certain Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or even closure based on guidance from health experts and government officials,” Disneyland said in the statement. “Furthermore, certain attractions, experiences, services and amenities will be modified, have limited availability or remain closed.”
Disney did not provide any clarification about which rides or amenities might be open or closed.
Earlier this month, Disney Parks Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pamela Hymel said in a statement that Disney parks were considering a phased reopening, with the opening of retail and dining locations coming before theme parks reopen.
“As you can imagine, managing guest density in queues, restaurants, hotels, ride vehicles and other facilities throughout the park and across the resort is a major focus, as we implement physical distancing guidelines based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and appropriate government agencies,” Hymel wrote.
Guests could also be required to wear a face mask. Hymel said parks will follow guidance from government and medical professionals.
“We’ll follow guidance from the government and the medical community regarding enhanced screening procedures and prevention measures, including those related to personal protective equipment (PPE), such as face coverings,” Hymel wrote. “Some measures, like adding hand sanitizers and hand washing stations across our resorts, have already been implemented.”
Some Disneyland resorts have started taking reservations for as soon as July 1.
“While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees remain The Walt Disney Company’s top priority,” Disneyland said.
