How many coronavirus cases are on the Mississippi Coast? Here’s the latest count.

Mississippi saw its first positive case of COVID-19 on March 11, in Hattiesburg’s Forrest County.

In the lower six counties of South Mississippi, Pearl River County had the first case on March 15. Cases are reported by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

As of June 17, Mississippi has had 20,641 cases and 938 deaths. Presumed recoveries through June 14 is 15,323.

The six southernmost South Mississippi counties have 1,178 cases and 71 deaths. Pearl River County reports 32 deaths. There are 16 deaths in Jackson County and 12 in Hancock County, 7 in Harrison County, and 1 each in George County and Stone County.

The total cases for South Mississippi on June 17 are:

  • George — 41
  • Hancock — 100
  • Harrison — 393
  • Jackson — 385
  • Pearl River — 224
  • Stone — 35
