5 new coronavirus cases in Harrison County and 1 in Pearl River, health department says
This Mississippi State Department of Health reported 67 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
Five of the cases are in Harrison County, and one is in Pearl River County.
The Jackson and Memphis areas have surpassed the Coast in the highest number of total cases. Hinds County now has 20 and DeSoto County has 18. Harrison County is third with 15 cases, followed by Pearl River with 10.
There are 5 cases in Jackson County, 4 in Hancock and 1 in George County.
There are 207 cases statewide and 775 people have been tested so far.
On the Coast, law enforcement agencies in Harrison County are recommending a two-week, 24-hour lockdown starting Monday night.
The city of Biloxi said in an email to residents the sheriff and police chiefs plan to bring the issue to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors on Monday morning.
The state health department also tweeted Saturday that six drive-up testing centers would be set up throughout the state for those exhibiting symptoms of “a fever of 100.4 or greater and severe cough or chest pain.”
