$20,000 won on a scratch-off lottery ticket from Mississippi Coast casino



An Alabama man got quite a gift this Christmas from the new Mississippi Lottery.

William C., no last name provided, received one of the new Triple 777 scratch-off tickets as a Christmas gift.

The ticket was was purchased at Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville, and when he scratched the card, he was a $20,000 winner.

Scarlet Pearl was one of the first casinos on the Coast to get approved to sell the tickets.

Mississippi Lottery Corp. said Friday that sales have topped $40 million in the first four weeks since the lottery was introduced in Mississippi.

The first big winner in the state was a Wiggins man, who won $2,000.

Four new scratch-off games will debut on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and the national Powerball and MegaMillions draw games begin in Mississippi on Jan. 30.

Alabama, where the winner lives, does not have a lottery.
