Biloxi’s Development Review Committee last week conducted an initial review of a plan by U-Haul to convert the former Wal-Mart store on Pass Road into a retail area, interior storage facility for boats and recreational vehicles and individual storage units.

The proposal would occupy the entire 118,000-square-foot building, Jerry Creel, community development director, said in his weekly report.

Creel also reported that building plans were submitted last week for a noodle bar at Hard Rock Casino Biloxi and for an AT&T Retail Store at Edgewater Mall.

In other development news, the Treen Report shows Hancock County Board of Supervisors are building a $447,000 walking trail at 6221 Lower Bay Road, Lakeshore Recreation Park. David Rush Construction of Pass Christian is the contractor.

Other permits were issued for $73,000 in work for a medical building at 819 Central Ave., Bay St. Louis; $45,000 for parking lot maintenance and a handicapped entrance at First Choice Storage, Waveland, and $30,000 for a renovation at Full Life Assembly of God in Hurley.

Twenty residential permits were issued in Hancock and Harrison counties and 15 in Jackson County.
