Superhero 5K run raises $13K for CASA
Leadership Hancock County presented a check for $13,137 to Court Appointed Special Advocates of Hancock County from the inaugural CASA Superhero 5K Run fundraiser.
Members of the 2015-16 class chose the CASA 5K as a class project and raised money through sponsorships and community donations, registering more than 285 runners for the race.
CASA is a nationwide program that has a strong presence in Hancock County under the direction of Executive Director Cynthia Chauvin.
Excel By 5 and the Senior Seminar class at Hancock High School also participated by creating the Tiny Titans Play Area, a space for children at the race to play and learn. Through this event, Leadership Hancock County was able to raise awareness for these programs. Many of the class members plan to continue working with CASA on future Superhero 5K Runs.
Leadership Hancock County is an annual program of the Hancock Chamber to identify leaders. Applications are being accepted until July 31 for the next class.
