DH Doughnuts in Diamondhead does not have an official Facebook page, but its customers are tagging themselves in line at the shop in the morning, posting photos of the pastries and giving the quaint shop a five-star review.

The shop, on East Aloha Drive in the same shopping center as Ace Hardware and Exit 16 Boutique, is very popular among residents.

"I like them a lot and I consider myself a donut connoisseur," said Raoul Boughton of Diamondhead.

The shop opened recently, but an owner could not be reached for comment.

Hancock County residents are taking to social media to say the staff is friendly, the prices are fair and the pastries are delicious.

Many have said the baked goods are as good as Grammy's, a popular doughnut shop in Bay St. Louis just east of the Bay St. Louis Library -- which has recently opened a store for its Waveland customers on U.S. 90 near McLaurin.

And others who live above Interstate 10 are excited for another new shop coming to Kiln in the next three weeks -- a Daylight Donuts franchise.

Owner Cheree Malley said she and her husband, Jesse, were interested in opening a business in their community and started by asking residents what they would like to see.

Daylight Donuts, she said, "is the one that stuck.

"We looked into a lot of different opportunities. "We first looked at Subway, but there was one already down the road, and (Daylight Donuts) was one that just caught our eye."

Malley plans for the shop to open at 5 a.m. every morning for early risers, residents commuting to work and students trekking to school. The menu also will offer kolaches, pigs in a blanket and iced coffees.

Malley said the shop will stay open weekdays until 6 p.m. and offer sandwiches and chips for lunch. It will have a drive-through for those who are in a hurry or don't want to get out of the car.

The shop, she said, will be good for Kiln because it will offers a food venue that caters to breakfast food -- something the community does not currently have.
