Singing River honors medical laboratory professionals
April 24-30 marks National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week and Singing River Health System is marking the occasion by recognizing the contributions of its lab professionals.
In conjunction with Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, employees this year wanted to give back by gathering items to donate to Harrison County's Gulf Coast Women's Center for Nonviolence and Adrienne's House, which is based in Jackson County.
Staff members at Singing River Health System Laboratories process more than 100,000 tests/results each day.
Accredited by the College of American Pathologists, Singing River's clinical laboratory services provide specimen collection at sites throughout Jackson County, including at-home collection for homebound patients.
Singing River has the only clinical laboratory in the region with floor model molecular instrumentation. The lab manages all aspects of testing on site and reports results the same day to prevent the spread of infection.
More than 100 lab professionals work together to operate the Lab Services program and provides services to local physician offices, nursing homes, clinics and the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
