The Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi will host the third annual One Loud Voice: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Child Abuse Conference April 13-14 at the Golden Nugget Biloxi Casino & Hotel.
The conference will focus on training professionals who work with children who have suffered abuse. Continuing education credits are offered.
Keynote speaker is Victor Vieth, founder and senior director of Gunderson National Child Protection Training Center. Other speakers are Ross Cheit of Brown University, author of The Witch-Hunt: Politics, Psychology, and Sexual Abuse of Children; Tomiko Mackey of the Family Crisis Services of Northeast Mississippi; Scott Modell, Ph.D, of Modell Consulting, and Jim Holler of Holler Training.
Speaking on a court panel will be Judge Thomas Broome, Rankin County Court; Judge Lisa Dodson, 2nd Circuit Court District; District Attorney Anthony Lawrence, 19th District, and David Calder, director of the Child Advocacy Clinic, University of Mississippi School of Law. Michael Galantino with the Delaware County District Attorney's Office will speak about how to corroborate difficult cases and ethics in child abuse work.
